Sariska Palace was built in 1892 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh as a hunting lodge for the Duke of Connaught, one of Queen Victoria's sons. Located close to the forest, it allowed the royal family to watch wild animals right from their balconies and sometimes even hunt from there.
