Punakha Dzong, Bhutan Overview

Punakha Dzong, known as Pungtang Dewe Rabi Kots, is one of Bhutan's most iconic and renowned landmarks. Situated at an elevation of 1,200m, the second-largest fortress of Bhutan is situated between the rivers Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu, with the spectacular Himalayan mountain range in the background. The fortress is built on an enormous raised platform constructed between two rivers, with walls from within the complex being made of giant buttresses and giant iron-bar doors.
