Lodhi Gardens is one of Delhi’s most iconic and popular green spaces. Mohammed Shah was the last ruler of the Sayyid dynasty, and his grand tomb is the most visited attraction in the park. It is adorned with intricate design, elegant carvings and stone carvings depicting the life of the king.
Built in 1444, the tomb of Sikander Lodi is said to be the first garden tomb in the Indian subcontinent. An architectural masterpiece, the tomb is inscribed with beautiful scriptures and adorned with intricate carvings, indicating the grandeur and power of the Lodhi sultans. Shish Gumbad is another famous monument in the garden and its pyramidal shape reflects the religious identity of the rulers of the Lodhi period. Apart from the tombs, Lodhi Gardens is also home to a 15th century mosque - Bara Gumbad, Humayun's Tomb and a stepwell, Sheesh Gumbad. This garden is also home to colourful birds, flora and fauna, making it the perfect spot to admire nature. Lodhi Gardens is a popular spot among locals and tourists as it provides a peaceful escape from the city.
